About This Call
The Texas Mesquite & Fine Art Spectacular is the premier small town art fair in Texas where patrons discover unique treasures made by hand. Located in downtown Fredericksburg's Marktplatz on Main Street, this 31-year-old event celebrates not only its traditional focus on mesquite wood art and craft, but also a wide variety of other visual fine art and fine craft in mediums such as other woods, leather, textiles, metal, glass, gourds, and painting. The event is low-key, casual, and family and pet friendly, with no admission charge.
Fredericksburg is a historic German community in the Texas Hill Country, about an hour from San Antonio and Austin. The Spectacular has a gathering of friends or reunion feel, with an informal artist reception hosted Friday evening and meal tickets provided to artists for Saturday and Sunday noon meals. Snacks and drinks are provided throughout the event.
The show runs Friday, October 10 (Noon to 6 PM), Saturday, October 11 (10 AM to 7 PM), and Sunday, October 12 (10 AM to 3 PM). Applications require six digital images including five individual pieces and one booth display image. All work exhibited must be original art produced by the artist, with limited editions clearly marked as reproductions. Artists must be present to exhibit and are responsible for collecting Texas sales tax at 8.25%. Only white tents are allowed with minimum 40 lbs weight per tent leg.
