Texas Big 10 for Art Competition

The Texas Big 10 for Art Competition is juried by a distinguished panel of judges including Patricia Johnson, Ken General, and Andrés Bardon. The competition breaks the mold of usual categories and regulations by allowing submissions from all mediums and organizing entries into categories based on years of artistic experience: High school junior/senior, 0-5 years, 6-12 years, 13-20 years, and over 20 years. Ten winners will be selected from each category, with each winner receiving $500 and having their artwork displayed in the winner's exhibition in July 2016 at the KCAM.

Artists must live in Texas to submit. The entry fee is $35 for the first 2 entries (minimum of 2 entries required), with each additional entry costing $15 (maximum of 6 entries). A late entry fee of $55 for the first 2 entries and $25 for each additional entry applies after February 1, 2016. Submissions are accepted from October 26, 2015 through March 31, 2016 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. All work will be presented to jurors as anonymous entries. Winners will be announced on May 2, 2016 on the Texas Big 10 for Art website.

Texas Big 10 for Art is also launching a writing competition called Creative Inspirations, accepting entries on any subject related to Texas Art, Texas Artists, Texas Art Scene, or Texas Art Culture. Entries are limited to 1,200 words with a $10 entry fee per work. A late fee of $20 applies after February 1, 2016. Writers may submit up to 6 works, with 1 winner from each category receiving $100. Submissions are accepted from October 26, 2015 through March 31, 2016 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Submissions that share poignant ideas or perspectives will be featured on the Big 10 website, with excerpts also potentially featured on Big 10 social media accounts.
