Terra Infirma: All Things Unsettled

GearBox Gallery invites artists to submit work for Terra Infirma: All Things Unsettled, an exhibition exploring themes of uncertainty and instability in the world, our country, communities, and ourselves. The exhibition is juried by Chandra Cerrito, director of Chandra Cerrito Contemporary in Oakland and an independent art advisor.

Eligibility is open to artists over 18 living or working in Northern California. Entries may be in any medium created between 2011 and 2015, with no size limitations provided works can fit through a standard doorway. Submissions must be original work and include title, medium, year, and dimensions. Work must be framed (when applicable) and ready to hang, or artists must provide means of display for audio or video works. Up to 3 entries may be submitted per application with a non-refundable $35 entry fee. Work samples may include 1-6 images, 0-3 audio files, and 0-3 video files.

The exhibition runs July 30 – August 22, 2015, with an opening reception on August 7 at 5 pm. Awards include a Juror's Award of $100 and featured guest artist opportunity, and a Juror's Honorable Mention of $75, announced at 8 pm during the reception. Selected artists must deliver work in person to 770 West Grand Ave, Oakland on July 26 or 27, 2015 between noon and 5:30 pm. Work must be picked up August 23 or 24 between noon and 5:30 pm; artwork remaining after this period is subject to $10 per day storage fees and becomes gallery property after 15 days. Artists are encouraged to sell work during the exhibition; GearBox Gallery retains 40% of sales and a 25% referral commission on sales within three months after the exhibit. Notification of selections will be made by email on July 11, 2015.
