About This Call

Tennessee Craft seeks entries for a statewide member exhibition to highlight and promote the excellence and high standards of Tennessee Craft member artists and to provide public visibility and recognition for the quality and diversity of craft found in Tennessee. The exhibition is open to original works of craft created by artists 18 years of age or older who are current residents of Tennessee, including students. All applicants must be 2023 members of Tennessee Craft to be considered for jury.

Up to 75 pieces of artwork will be selected for this craft exhibition, hosted by the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center in Clarksville, Tennessee. The public exhibition runs September 1 through October 26, 2023. A reception will be held Thursday, September 14 from 5 to 7 pm CDT. Artists may submit up to five craft pieces for consideration, with each piece represented by one image. The entry fee is $25 (non-refundable), payable by check, credit, or debit card. All entry forms must be electronically submitted no later than midnight May 15, 2023.

Eligible work must be original, not previously exhibited at a Tennessee Craft exhibition, and within generally accepted craft media including basketry, books/paper, clay, drawing, fiber/textile, furniture, glass, jewelry, leather, metal, mixed media, painting, photography, printmaking, wood, and other. Work must show manipulation of materials and originality in design. Commercially-made embellishments must be subordinate to handcrafted work. Computer-assisted works are not allowed unless generated components are subordinate to the finished artwork. Artwork produced with commercial kits, molds, patterns, plans, prefabricated forms, or other commercial methods are ineligible. The exhibition will be juried by an independent craft art expert. A Visitors' Choice Award with cash prize will be presented at the conclusion of the exhibition. Artists handle all sales and set retail prices. Each artist is responsible for transportation costs and insurance while in transit to and from the Museum.
