About This Call
This exhibition explores how photographs tell stories through the depiction of objects, people, and places. It asks which stories are important to tell now as well as how photography can tell stories in compelling and honest ways. The exhibition focuses on how single photographs can summarize or represent larger narratives and stand on their own.
Entry is open to regional, national, and international artists, members and non-members of CPAC. All lens-based media are eligible, including but not limited to images made by film, scanner, screen-capture, digital camera, and any means of mobile photography. Applicants must submit 3-10 images. Entry fees are $35 for members and $40 for non-members for up to 3 images; $4 per additional image for members and $5 for non-members. The final framed size or size of the photograph if it is not framed must be specified. The gallery understands that work may be presented in a non-traditional way that is integral to the art and requests advance contact if your work fits into these criteria.
Notice of Acceptance will be sent October 13, 2023. Work must be received by November 17, 2023. The exhibition runs November 30, 2023 – January 6, 2024, with an opening reception on Friday, December 1, 2023 from 6-9pm. The exhibition juror is Mary Statzer, Curator of Prints and Photographs at University of New Mexico Art Museum. Awards include a Juror Award of $300, a Director Award of a 30-minute portfolio review (in-person or Zoom), and Honorable Mention. For questions, contact 303-837-1341 or [email protected].
