Technical Director/Facilities Manager, The District Theatre

The District Theatre seeks a senior-level technical professional to join its team beginning late February 2026. This is a full-time contractor role combining technical direction, production oversight, and facilities stewardship in a year-round venue on Mass Ave.

The Facilities & Technical Director is responsible for supervising and coordinating production facilities, including all uses of stage and related equipment. The role oversees the production sequence for all events and produced work, manages general upkeep of the facility, and reports on needed repairs or identifies the need for outside labor. The Facilities & Technical Director serves as the safety officer responsible for overseeing maintenance of a safe workplace in compliance with OSHA, ADA, and Building Fire Codes, and is responsible for addressing safety hazards and infractions.

The ideal candidate is an experienced technical director who enjoys variety, autonomy, and contributing to a mission-driven organization. Salary $50K+ commensurate with experience. The District Theatre presents 30+ productions and events annually across two stages—a 120-seat mainstage and a 60-seat cabaret-style theatre—with resident theatre partners, local and touring companies, festival collaborators, and community programming.
