About This Call
The Arts Council of Fayetteville | Cumberland County is seeking submissions for its Tear It Down art exhibition, held December 1-16, 2022. In honor of World AIDS Day, the Arts Council is partnering with the Faith Compass Coordinating Center at Wake Forest Divinity Center and the Cumberland County HIV Task Force to raise awareness and encourage community-wide healing. The exhibition seeks submissions that tell personal stories related to HIV and AIDS, whether through a personal diagnosis or that of a loved one.
All mediums are welcome, including photography, paintings, sculptures, ceramics, textiles, and mixed/multi-media works. Hanging works should be appropriately framed with a wire hanger, as the Arts Council uses a Walker Hanging System. 3D works will be displayed on pedestals throughout the gallery. Artists must submit their application with bio/resume and photos/copies of work by November 14, 2022. Selected artists will be notified by November 15, 2022 via email. Artwork must be shipped or delivered to 301 Hay Street, Fayetteville, NC 28301 between November 15-28, 2022. An opening reception is scheduled for December 1, 2022. Artwork pickup/shipping dates are January 2-6, 2023.
Eligibility is open to any artists who have been personally affected by HIV and AIDS. Artists retain copyright to their work but authorize the Arts Council to use photos for promotional purposes. The Arts Council retains a 30% commission for all sales. Artists are responsible for all shipping and material costs and must provide a return shipping label or FedEx/UPS account number. Work received after November 28, 2022 will not be installed, and submitting artists will be responsible for return shipping costs.
