TATTOO: the Renaissance of Body Art

TATTOO: The Renaissance of Body Art is a juried exhibition at the Lighthouse ArtCenter in Tequesta, Florida, featuring original art on loan from Ed Hardy. The exhibition invites fine artists who create tattoos and tattoo artists who creates fine art to submit work for this PG-rated show. Work will be displayed alongside primitive, tribal, Japanese, Americana, black and grey, and contemporary art.

Two submission categories are available: (1) Original Artwork, including paintings, drawings, sketches, and illustrations inspired by tattoos; and (2) Original Tattoo Art, including flash and photographic images of work on the human body. Artists may submit up to three works in each category for $35 per category. Digital image submissions must be JPEG or JPG format, 1200 pixels on the longest side, and under 5MB. All paintings must be mounted or framed with wire for hanging; flash and photography must be mounted.

The exhibition runs September 3 to November 2, 2019. The artist reception and awards ceremony is September 19, 2019, 5:30-7:30 p.m. (each artist and one guest invited at no charge). A ticketed "Nearly" Nude Runway Show is scheduled for October 17, 2019, 5:30-7:30 p.m. ($35 per ticket). Artists receive 60% of sales; the Lighthouse ArtCenter retains 40% commission. All art must remain on display for the duration of the exhibition. Artwork must arrive by August 5, 2019. Unsold works will be packed and shipped or picked up by November 6, 2019. A credit card must be kept on file for return shipping and insurance on unsold pieces.
