Tarot: The Fool's Journey Through Life

Tarot: The Fool's Journey Through Life is an exhibition of visual art running from August 3-26, 2018 at The Studio Door gallery in San Diego. Artwork inspired by Tarot, Oracle and Divination decks, Lotería cards, and related themes are welcome for submission. The exhibition offers both in-gallery and online gallery options, allowing artists to participate regardless of shipping constraints. All accepted works are eligible for Best in Show and will appear in the exhibition catalog.

Accepted media includes painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, assemblage, collage, mixed media, fiber art, artist books, ceramics, stoneware, stained glass, sculpture, and oversized fine art jewelry. The exhibition does not accept small jewelry, video, film, performance art, large installations, or works requiring external electrical sources. Two-dimensional work must not exceed 8 feet in height and 4 feet in width including frame. Three-dimensional work must fit through an average doorway and not exceed 8 feet in height. All 2-D artwork must arrive gallery-ready, professionally presented, preferably in black or natural wood frames with plexi (no glass). Submissions must be original work by the artist.

Entry fee is $35 for one work, $40 for two works, or $45 for three works. Artists submit 1-3 images online through CAFÉ. The submission deadline is July 6, 2018 at 10:59 PM PST (11:59 PM MDT). Artists will be notified by July 11, 2018. The opening reception is Saturday, August 4, 2018 from 6-9 PM. Juror Chris Butler will select works for both the physical gallery and online exhibition. Three works will receive a Juror's Award ribbon, certificate, and $100 check, with one designated Best in Show for the exhibition catalog cover. In-gallery artists may also participate in a secondary exhibition at North County Repertory Theater in Solana Beach from September through November 12, 2018.
