About This Call
Taos Art Insurgency is a national exhibition posing the questions: Who will be the artists that lead the way for the new millennium? What will be the movements and issues they champion? Taos is a major artist's colony that has been at the forefront of all modern art movements initiated within the last 120 years. David Anthony Fine Art, Wilder Nightingale Fine Art, and Greg Moon Art of Taos host this national show in conjunction with the Taos Spring Arts Festival. The exhibition runs April 27–May 18 with an opening reception on May 4th.
Entries are accepted in painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, sculpture, mixed media, fiber arts, digital printed media, and assemblage. The show is open to all US-based artists 18 years and older. Entry fee is $40.00 with an additional $10.00 media fee. Applicants must submit 4–8 images. 2-D pieces are limited to 52" width and 72" height with framing. 3-D pieces are limited to 32" width/depth and 72" height. All works must be for sale and remain in the gallery for the duration of the exhibition. All works must be ready to hang or display; works requiring glazing must use plexiglass. Giclees are accepted only in photography and digital media. All photography/digital media prints (except Polaroid, platinum, and albumen) must have an image size of at least 8×10". No substitutions for accepted works.
Jurors are David Mapes (Owner of David Anthony Fine Art), Robert Nightingale (Owner of Wilder Nightingale Fine Art), and Greg Moon (Artist, Curator, Owner of Greg Moon Art). The show will be supported with professionally printed invitations, email announcements, website presence for selected artists, regional and national press coverage, an opening reception, gallery sales staff, and exposure to prominent figures, collectors, curators, and publishers. Notification of accepted works is April 10. Receivership of accepted works is April 15–19. Pick-up/return of work is May 20–24.
