Tangelo Park Community Center

The Orange County Public Art Review Board seeks one or more artists or artist team(s) to develop artwork for the newly renovated Tangelo Park Community Center in Orlando, Florida. Tangelo Park is a historically Black community with a proud heritage. The Tangelo Park Community Center is nestled into a mid-century modern neighborhood, located next to the Tangelo Park Elementary School with an adjoining outdoor recreation center. The site includes an indoor gymnasium and an outdoor pool. The new and improved community center is a bright and bold space featuring a multipurpose meeting space, classrooms, computer lab, and offices, while the outdoor spaces are equipped with solar gazebos for community use. The primary purpose of the center is to facilitate County social service programs and recreational activities. The Tangelo Park Community Center is thoughtfully designed as a multigenerational space to promote community engagement through a variety of activities and events, including family programs, community gatherings, art exhibitions, festivals, and more. The center aims to serve as a welcoming environment—extending the sense of home—where individuals and families can come together safely and comfortably.
