About This Call
In the exhibit's first five years, over 200 local pieces of art have been displayed for the Arena's estimated 1.5 million annual visitors. This exhibition has brought awareness to local emerging artists and directly benefitted them, as all art is for sale with proceeds going to the artist. Each year, hundreds of submissions are received, and representatives from the Tampa Museum of Art, Museum of Fine Arts, the Ringling Museum of Art, and the Dali Museum help select the winning pieces.
Artists must live or work in the greater Tampa Bay area and may submit up to three fully completed original works. All mediums are welcome, excluding free-standing sculpture. Hanging artwork must be no larger than 6'x6' (including frame), and wall-hanging sculpture is limited to 7' tall. Acceptable mediums include painting, photography, drawing, and wall-hanging sculpture. The exhibition welcomes art that visually celebrates Tampa Bay and its people, and artists of all ages are encouraged to apply. A special category for artists under 18 years of age has been created.
Award opportunities include: Top three artists overall - $1,000 each; Honorable Mention (4-10) - $250 each; Top three artists under age 18 - $250 each. Artists will be notified on or before September 23, 2017 of acceptance into the exhibition. The unveiling and reception will be held in late September to early October 2016.
