Tamarac Sportsplex Sculpture Benches

The City of Tamarac, Florida is seeking to commission an artist or artist team to design seven (7) sculptural benches for the City's Sportsplex located at 9901 N.W. 77 Street, Tamarac, Florida 33321. The benches should serve both functional and artistic purposes and incorporate the city's brand and various sports themes. The project budget is $50,000.

Three artists or artist teams will be selected as semi-finalists to develop and present design proposals, each receiving a $1,500 stipend. The winning artist will be awarded a $50,000 contract to include permitting, artist fees, production, materials, insurance, travel, delivery, and other incidental expenses. The design must be approved by the City Commission. Application deadline is Tuesday, June 10, 2025.

The artwork should be durable and require minimal ongoing maintenance, suitable for South Florida's sub-tropical climate with intense sun and seasonal heavy rain. Materials should be rust-resistant. Semi-finalists must submit a current resume (2 page maximum) and 10 images of past art projects with an annotated image list. All submissions must be made via CAFÉ at www.callforentry.org. The Tamarac Public Art Committee will review proposals based on artistic merit, style and appropriateness, technical feasibility, and safety and maintenance considerations.
