About This Call

Tamarac Sculpture on Nob Hill is a public art exhibition seeking original three-dimensional artwork for outdoor display. The project aims to enhance quality of life for residents, increase awareness of public art, promote Tamarac as a cultural destination, and provide a showcase for local, regional, and national artists.

Eligibility is open to all artists nationwide creating original three-dimensional artwork suitable for outdoor display. Florida artists are encouraged to apply. Previous experience with outdoor public art installation is preferred but not necessary. Participating artists must carry liability insurance. Artwork should be durable and require minimal maintenance, designed to withstand South Florida's subtropical climate with intense sun and seasonal heavy rain. Sculptures must be securely anchored to a concrete pad.

Selected artists will receive a $1,500 honorarium per artwork, paid in two installments: $750 after installation in October 2016 and $750 after removal by September 2017. A $1,000 cash award will be given for Best of Show. The City has the option to purchase one or more works for its public art collection up to $60,000. A 25% commission on works sold during the exhibition will remain with the City. Up to ten final artworks will be selected. Artists or their installers must carry general liability insurance covering installation and de-installation. The City will insure each work against damage or theft during the exhibition and provide identification plaques. Artists are responsible for securing all required permits; permit fees will be reimbursed by the City. Selection is based on artistic excellence, appropriateness for sites, technical feasibility, durability, and diversity of style, scale, and media. Submissions must include up to three proposed or completed artworks with digital images and an annotated image list identifying title, media, dimensions, sale price or insurance value, weight, and installation requirements.
