Tales of the Sea

Tales of the Sea is an art exhibition revolving around aquatic life of a mythical or fantastic nature. Additional themes of aquatic ecology are encouraged, but not required. All media welcome. The exhibition is sponsored by the South Haven Center for the Arts and co-hosted by SHCA and the South Haven Mermaid MegaFest.

The show runs from May 19 – July 14, 2018. An opening reception will be held on Saturday, May 19. A second opening and reception will be scheduled during Mermaid MegaFest weekend (May 26). Artists are encouraged to attend either or both openings and may be invited to speak as part of an artists' panel. The entry deadline is April 20, 2018 at 11:59pm MST. Notifications will be emailed by April 27, 2018. The entry fee is $30.00 for one to three artworks. Artwork must be original and completed in the last 3 years. Submissions must include 1-3 images, and optionally up to 1 audio file and/or 1 video file.

Accepted works must be delivered framed and ready to hang with wire for hanging. Shipped work must arrive by May 12, 2018 and include a prepaid return shipping label. Hand delivery is accepted Tuesday, May 8 – Saturday, May 12 during normal business hours. Pickup of accepted work is Tuesday, July 17 – Saturday, July 21 during normal business hours. Artists are encouraged to make work available for sale; SHCA's commission is 35% of the sale price. SHCA carries insurance for loss or damage during the show but is not responsible for loss or damage during shipping.
