Taking Pictures: 2026

Black Box Gallery is excited to announce an open themed juried group photo show. Open to all themes and ideas, all styles and genres, all perspectives on craftsmanship and photographic creativity. This is a great opportunity for landscape, architecture, portraiture, documentary, fashion, still life, conceptual projects, street, color and black and white, nature, and night photography. The exhibition will feature a great diversity of photographs.

The juror is Todd Johnson, founder and director of Black Box Gallery, who received his MFA in Photography from the San Francisco Art Institute. He has been a photography portfolio reviewer for Photolucida, Critical Mass, Dodho Magazine, and Blue Sky Gallery, and has worked as an independent curator for exhibitions at various galleries. Johnson has worked in arts education and arts administration for 25 years and has exhibited his photographic work nationally.

The exhibition runs February 1-25, 2026, with 26 photographs selected for gallery exhibition and an additional 50 photographs selected for the online gallery annex. All 76 photographs will be included in a catalog available for purchase on Blurb Books. Black Box Gallery provides free printing, matting, and framing for all exhibitions using 18" x 24" black frames with white mats and archival inkjet printing. The gallery takes a 50% commission on sales, with 50% going to the photographer. Entry fee is $40.00, with a maximum of 5 applications allowed and 1-5 images required per submission.
