Taking Pictures: 2021

Black Box Gallery is hosting an open themed juried group photography exhibition. The show is open to all themes, styles, and genres, including landscape, architecture, portraiture, documentary, fashion, still life, conceptual projects, street, color and black and white, nature, and night photography.

Juror Todd Johnson is the founder and director of Black Box Gallery and holds an MFA in Photography from the San Francisco Art Institute. He has served as a portfolio reviewer for Photolucida, Critical Mass, Dodho Magazine, and Blue Sky Gallery, and has worked as an independent curator for exhibitions at multiple institutions including Linfield College, Gallery Homeland, and The Waiting Room Gallery. Johnson has 25 years of experience in arts education and arts administration.

Submissions must include 1-5 images. Entry fee is $35.00. The deadline is March 11, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Exhibition dates are April 1-20, 2021. Black Box Gallery will be open by appointment only during April due to COVID-19. The juror will select 24 photographs for exhibition at the gallery and an additional 30 photographs for the online gallery annex. All 54 photographs will be included in a catalog available for purchase on Blurb Books.

Black Box Gallery provides free printing, matting, and framing for all exhibitions. Selected photographers must provide high resolution TIFF or JPEG files. Prints are created on an Epson Stylus Pro archival inkjet printer on Epson Premium Luster Photo paper in a color-calibrated environment. Exhibition prints will be kept in a flat file after the show for future sale and promotion. Black Box Gallery takes a 50% commission on all sales, with 50% going to the photographer. All rights remain with the photographer, and no sale or printing will occur without prior consent. Artists may choose for prints to be for exhibition and promotion only, not for sale.
