Taking Pictures: 2018

Black Box Gallery is hosting an open themed juried group photography exhibition. The show is open to all themes, styles, and genres, including landscape, architecture, portraiture, documentary, fashion, still life, conceptual projects, street, color and black and white, nature, and night photography.

Submissions must include 1-5 images. The entry fee is $35.00, and photographers may submit up to 5 applications. The juror is Todd Johnson, founder and director of Black Box Gallery, who holds an MFA in Photography from the San Francisco Art Institute and has 15 years of experience as a college photography instructor in Portland.

Twenty-four photographs will be selected for exhibition at the gallery (April 1-20, 2018), with an opening reception on Friday, April 6, 6-8:00 pm. An additional 30 photographs will be selected for the online gallery annex. All 54 photographs will be included in a catalog available for purchase on Blurb Books. Black Box Gallery provides free printing, matting, and framing for all selected work. Photographers will be notified 10-12 days after the deadline about selections. Exhibition prints will be kept in a flat file after the show for future promotion and sale. Black Box Gallery takes a 50% commission on all sales, with 50% going to the photographer. Artists may request that their print not be for sale and be used for exhibition and promotion only. All rights remain with the photographer.
