Tailgate Paint Out 2022

The Tailgate Paint Out is a 3-day event held June 3-5, 2022, in Sedona. The event is open to all artists 18 years and older with plein air experience. Artists should include plein air experience in the résumé submitted with their application.

Friday features an open paint session where invited artists, mostly new to the Sedona Arts Center, will paint around Sedona throughout the day with a sale of work at an evening reception. Saturday includes an evening paint out where artists will draw or paint at an easel while observers watch in a tailgate formation; awards will be given and artworks sold at the event. Sunday is a community paint out where all attendees are invited to paint alongside professional artists, with work from both sold off the easel in this inclusive educational event.

Overall awards will be given for Best of Show and runners up, with a total of up to $7,500 in awards distributed. Awards will be presented on Saturday and Sunday. Monetary awards will be given for First Place/Best of Show, Second, and Third place. Honorable mention awards will be awarded at the discretion of the jurors with no monetary amount attached. A People's Choice Award is announced at the end of the show with no monetary award. Entry fee is $50.00. Submit a minimum of three and a maximum of six professional-quality images of plein air artwork in JPEG format with a minimum resolution of 300 DPI. Include the title of each piece in the file name, and list the title, dimensions, medium, and price on the entry form.
