About This Call
The Community Fine Arts Center in Rock Springs is seeking proposals for its inaugural artist residency, to take place for one week between July and September 2022. Situated in southwest Wyoming, Rock Springs has a long and rich history and is conveniently located near many natural wonders, including the famed Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area. The purpose of this residency is to afford artists from outside the community a chance to live and work in Rock Springs, to engage with its history and culture, and to develop a greater awareness and appreciation of what the area has to offer.
The program offers a 1-week residency with a $1,000 stipend, local Airbnb accommodation, and studio space. Artists must provide their own transportation and cover all travel expenses, food, personal expenses, and art supplies.
Eligible artists must be currently working in painting, drawing, sculpture, installation, eco art, photography, or mixed media. Artists must be 18 years or older and be a resident of the US or Canada. Application requirements include an artist statement (2,000 characters or less), images of 10 works created within the last 3 years, resume/CV, and a proposal describing intended activities during the residency, preferred dates, and whether you would prefer to give a workshop or donate a work of art, along with an explanation of your preference. Entry fee is $25.
