About This Call
The Elliott Museum in Stuart, Florida invites Florida artists and snowbirds with a Florida residence to submit original 2D and 3D artwork with an "edible" theme for the juried exhibition Sweet!, running September 15 through November 4, 2018. Work must be suitable for family viewing and ready for display. All pieces must be original, created after January 1, 2015, and may not have been displayed at any other venue in Martin County, FL. Eligible media includes painting, drawing, ceramic, metal, wood, or other materials. Artwork must depict or suggest normal, average human food and/or drink somewhere in the piece. No photography, digital renderings, graphic nudity, or depicted violence will be accepted.
Size requirements: flat work maximum 48" wide by 72" high (including frame), minimum 12" in either direction; 3D pieces maximum 75 lbs and/or up to 72" in any direction. All work must be ready to hang or display, with professional framing for wall-hung pieces (no glass). Artists may submit up to 5 pieces. Entry fee is $25 for the first piece and $5 for each additional piece. Submission deadline is August 12, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. MDT via CaFE. Accepted artists will be notified by August 31, 2018.
Awards include Best of Show ($500), Best 2D ($300), Best 3D ($300), three Judges' Awards ($100 each), and up to six Merit Awards. A People's Choice Award will be announced October 26. Hand-delivery of selected artwork is accepted September 10, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; shipped work must arrive by September 15 at 5 p.m. All accepted artwork must be for sale. The Elliott Museum deducts a 40% commission from all sales and handles all transactions. Unsold work may be picked up November 4 from 4-5 p.m. or November 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. A reception and Edible Art Show will be held September 15, 2018 from 2-5 p.m.
