About This Call
LA Printmaking (LAPS) is a national non-profit artist-run organization based in Los Angeles, California, dedicated to the encouragement of printmaking and the advancement of printmaking in public awareness and education. This exhibition, titled "Sweet Earth/Bitter Earth," reflects the relationship we have with our planet Earth as a symbol for love and pain, growth and destruction, magnificent and intimate. The exhibition will be held at the Center for the Arts, Eagle Rock.
The juror for this exhibition is Los Angeles-based multi-media artist Merion Estes, who was the subject of a 20-year retrospective at the Craft and Folk Art Museum titled "Merion Estes: Unnatural Disasters." North American artists 18 years and older are eligible to enter. Original, innovative works in all printmaking media are eligible; photographs, offset reproductions, or reproductions of artwork originally produced in another medium will not be considered. Artists may submit up to three digital images of original prints completed within the past three years. Entry fee is $35.00.
Accepted artwork must be delivered by Saturday, March 30th. The opening reception is Friday, April 5th, 5pm-8pm. An art event is scheduled for Saturday, April 13th, noon-5pm, with a closing event and art talk on Friday, April 26th, 7pm-8:30pm. The exhibition ends Tuesday, April 30th, with artwork pickup on May 1st, noon-5pm or by arrangement. All delivered work must match the juried image and be framed in simple metal or wooden frames with standard white or off-white window mat or floated and securely mounted to backing board. Plexiglas only; frames must be ready to hang. A 35% commission will be charged on all sales. Results of jurying will be emailed by March 15th, 2019.
