About This Call
The Suttons Bay Art Festival, a beloved Northern Michigan tradition, is now managed by Crooked Tree Arts Center (CTAC) after a multi-year transition. Since its founding over 50 years ago, CTAC has been a vital force in the region's arts community, providing educational programs, exhibits, and events that foster creativity. Held annually on the first weekend of August, the festival draws thousands of art lovers to Suttons Bay's Marina Park, a picturesque venue alongside Lake Michigan's shoreline.
Featuring approximately 100 artists, the festival creates an artist-friendly atmosphere with extensive regional marketing and a stunning location. In addition to the art booths, visitors can enjoy food, community group displays, a children's art area, and the popular annual library book sale. A portion of festival proceeds supports arts initiatives in the Suttons Bay community. Each participant receives an approximate 10'x10' square booth space on grass or asphalt with a small storage area. Booth fees are $400 for street locations (limited to 50 booths) or $350 for park locations.
Up to four jury awards will be presented on Saturday, with artists receiving a small cash award and jury exemption for one year. Artists must be present for the duration of the show and represent only their own original work. Digital and non hand crafted reproductions are limited to a single bin. The festival requires 6 images and a booth shot for application, with no application fee. Emerging artists are accepted.
