Suspend

The Cloyde Snook Gallery at Adams State University seeks artwork in all media for a national juried exhibition titled "Suspend." The exhibition explores the state of being suspended—conceptually and/or literally—whether personally, politically, culturally, or ethically. The gallery is a unique two-story space with the second story open to the ground floor. Works may be literally suspended up to 24 feet and viewed from above and below. Artists designing suspended works should include details of weight and installation requirements with submission.

Eligibility: All artists 18 years of age and older residing in the United States may enter. Work must be original and completed within the last two years. All media are considered. Shipped work must conform to UPS restrictions: 130" girth plus length (crated) and 150 lbs. (crated). Accepted 2D artwork must be properly framed with plexi-glass or prepared for exhibition; no glass is permitted on 2D artwork. Work deemed very fragile by the Gallery Director must be set and struck by the artist or it will not be exhibited and/or insured.

Submission: Artists may submit up to 3 images for review. Entry deadline is August 31, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Entry fee is $35. Artists will be notified of acceptance or non-acceptance by Monday, September 10, 2018 by email. Exhibition dates: October 15 - November 8, 2018. Opening reception: Thursday, October 18, 2018, 5-7 p.m. Prize: "Best in Show" receives a future solo exhibition at the Cloyde Snook Gallery. All proceeds from sales go directly to the artist; the gallery takes no commission but encourages donations of 10-20%. Accepted works will be insured while on university premises.
