About This Call

The Survivor Artists Art Exhibition invites submissions from artists of all backgrounds and mediums, including painting, sculpture, photography, and mixed media. Artwork should reflect the transformation journey of trafficking survivors and lived experience experts affected by sexual trauma, with the goal of empowering and honoring their stories. SAGE Community Arts and Uprising have collaborated since 2021 to demonstrate the role of arts in the healing journey for trafficking and trauma survivors. This exhibition is the culmination of those efforts. Please note: Sensationalized or overtly sexual depictions will not be considered. SAGE Community Arts Jurors and Curatorial Staff reserve the right to refuse any artwork.

Submissions require a $15 entry fee (includes first artwork) plus $5 per additional piece (up to 9 additional pieces). Artists must submit 1-10 digital images in JPEG or JPG format. All work must be original and created within the past five years. The jury process is conducted in two blind phases: Phase 1 selects 33-40 artworks from digital images, and Phase 2 judges the original accepted pieces in person. Selected artists will be notified by April 25. Accepted artwork must arrive at SAGE Gallery (21 W. Brundage St., Sheridan, WY 82801) by May 30. The exhibition opens June 6, with an Artists and Awards Reception on June 22 at 5:30pm-7:30pm MST (awards announced at 6pm). The show closes July 9, with artwork available for pickup July 10-16.

All artwork must be exhibit-ready with proper hanging mechanisms (no saw-tooth hangers or clip-on frames). 2-D work must be framed with gallery wire on back. 3-D work up to 48" tall will be displayed on gallery-provided pedestals or artist-provided stands. Artists set sale prices; SAGE retains 40% commission (35% for members), with commissions split between SAGE and Uprising. Cash awards are given for Best in Show and People's Choice. Artists are responsible for shipping costs and must include prepaid return labels. SAGE does not assume responsibility for loss or damage during transport.
