Support and Defend - Art Relevant to the Veteran Experience

Art League of Rhode Island (ALRI) presents "Support and Defend," an exhibition of 2D and 3D artworks reflecting the military experiences of veterans or their family members. The exhibition will be held at The VETS Gallery, One Avenue of the Arts, Providence, RI 02903, from April 1 - May 29, 2016, with an opening reception on Thursday, April 14th, 5:30 - 8:30 PM.

Eligibility is open to any artist worldwide, age 18 or older, who is either a current or past member of the U.S. Armed Forces (Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard), the Reserve Corps, or National Guard; or an immediate family member (child, parent, sibling, spouse, grandparent, or grandchild) of such a member. All media are accepted. Artists must submit 1-20 images and an artwork relevance statement explaining the connection to the veteran experience. The relevance statement is required and will be considered in the selection process alongside artwork quality and presentation.

Entry fee is $25 for non-ALRI members ($15 for members), with an additional $10 per image after the first (maximum 20 images). All submissions are handled through CaFÉ (CallforEntry.org). Artists will be notified of acceptance by email no later than March 15, 2016. Artwork must be exhibition-ready and original; previously exhibited work with ALRI is not permitted. Maximum size for 2D work is 48" wide by 72" high. 3D work footprint must not exceed 24" x 24" with a weight limit of 35 pounds. Sales are encouraged with a 30% commission to ALRI. Delivery of accepted work will be in late March 2016 via in-person delivery or prepaid UPS shipment to Rhode Island.
