Superior En Plein Air Festival & Exhibit

Superior's Cultural Arts and Public Spaces Advisory Committee invites artists to participate in the Superior En Plein Air Festival & Exhibit. Up to 15 artists will be selected to paint the scenery of Purple Park on September 18, 2021 (with a rain date of September 25). Selected artists will receive a $100 honorarium for their participation and artwork exhibition.

Eligibility: All applicants must be 18 years of age or over, U.S. citizens or permanent U.S. residents, and reside in Colorado. Applicants must submit a brief letter of interest detailing experience with plein air painting, three to six digital images of past artwork with a corresponding list describing each image (title, media, dimensions, purchase price or value), and a resume.

Selected artists will submit digital images of their finished paintings by October 2021 to be considered for a three-month exhibition at the Town's community center beginning in January 2022. The selected artists may be paired with a young aspiring artist during the event to provide coaching in plein air painting. The public will be invited to watch the artists paint and participate in an activity station for painting. Artwork must be dropped off and picked up by the artists.
