About This Call
The California Art Club Gallery at The Old Mill invites submissions for Sunset at the Pacific's Edge, an exhibition featuring miniature plein air paintings focused on dramatic sunsets and coastal beauty along the Pacific. The exhibition runs October 8, 2026, through January 24, 2027, at the California Art Club Gallery at The Old Mill, 1120 Old Mill Road, San Marino, CA 91108.
The exhibition is open to current and active juried Artists, Out-of-State Artists, Mentorship Program Artists, and Signature Artists of the California Art Club. Associate Artists and non-members are not eligible. Accepted works must be oil, watercolor, pastel, gouache, or acrylic with unframed dimensions not exceeding 108 inches total. Subject matter should focus on dramatic sunsets and coastal beauty, with examples including popular California beach towns like Carmel-by-the-Sea, Laguna Beach, Santa Cruz, Monterey, Coronado, Malibu, and Pismo Beach; Pacific Coast Highway views; iconic bridges; seaside sunsets; and piers, marinas, and boardwalks. All artwork must be for sale. The commission structure is 60% Artist, 20% Old Mill, and 20% CAC.
The submission deadline is Wednesday, July 22, 2026. Entry fee is $30 for one submission with $8 per additional entry. Images must be jpg format and under 4 MB, with a minimum of 1920 pixels on the longest side at 72 dpi. Artists will be notified via email on or around Monday, August 3, 2026. Artwork drop-off is Monday, October 5, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon. Out-of-town artists must ship artwork to Box and Ship in Pasadena, CA, arriving between Friday, September 4 and Friday, October 2, 2026. The artists' reception is Thursday, October 8, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Artwork pick-up is Monday, January 25 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.
