About This Call

The City of Sunrise is seeking 1 to 22 artists to create artwork for the new City Hall building inspired by South Florida's Nature and Wildlife, with a strong focus on the Everglades. Ocean-themed artwork will not be considered. Artwork will be displayed throughout the building in hallways and prominent walls, with locations corresponding to conference rooms named after local nature and wildlife (Everglades Room, Panther Conference Room, Osprey Conference Room, etc.).

Artwork must complement the interior of the City Hall building and meet specific size requirements based on wall locations provided in the site plan. The City expects digital photography and giclee to cost between $200 to $500, and original paintings to range between $1,000 to $3,000. Selected artists must submit 1 to 20 images for initial review. For photography and giclee, artists must provide high-resolution files (300 DPI). For original paintings, artists are responsible for shipping and safe delivery. The City will handle framing and installation. All artists must sign a Letter of Understanding granting reproduction rights; artists retaining digital files keep copyright while granting the City unlimited, perpetual, and irrevocable non-commercial reproduction rights. Artists submitting original paintings must agree the City becomes sole owner of all rights, title, and interest.

Eligibility is open to professional visual artists and artist teams with experience implementing work in the public realm with government agencies. Professional status is indicated by income from artwork commissions, consistent art exhibitions, placement in public institutions or museums, honors and awards, or formal arts training. Artists who are immediate family or business partners of Sunrise City staff, City Commission members, or public art consultants are not eligible. All artwork must be original and created by the submitting artist.
