Summer Pleasures

The MVA Gallery (Modern Visual Arts) invites artists and photographers of all levels to submit original 2D artwork to the "Summer Pleasures" exhibition. Images should depict activities, people, and nature that reveal the many moods of summer. Activities may include swimming, walking, golf, tennis, dancing, children's games, traveling, outdoor performances, hiking, camping, and biking. People themes include individuals in summer fashion, faces with sunglasses, lovers hugging, children splashing in water, mature friends relaxing, tourists at country fairs, and families enjoying picnics or barbecues. Nature themes encompass landscapes, urban settings, reflections and shadows, flowers and gardens, trees, vines, fruits and vegetables, birds and insects, sunrises and sunsets.

Submission is exclusively through CAFE-CallForEntry. Entry fee is $30.00 for 3 images, with additional images available for $5.00 each up to a maximum of 9 images. All images must be JPEG format, under 5 MB, with a minimum of 1200 pixels on the longest side. Artists must provide title, medium, size, price, and year of completion for each work. Artists must be 18 years or older and reside in the United States. Only 2D original artwork is accepted; no reproductions or derivatives of copyrighted images are permitted. All artwork must be professionally finished and ready for secure installation. Framed pieces must be equipped with stretched wire; sawtooth hangers and unframed work will not be accepted. Paintings with gallery-wrapped edges are acceptable. Pieces should not exceed 34 inches (framed) on the longest side and must weigh no more than 35 lbs. Photographs must be framed and matted in white or off-white only, with black or white frames preferred. Plexiglass is preferred over glass for shipped artwork.

Artists will be notified of acceptance by June 22, 2021. Accepted artwork must arrive at the gallery by July 1, 2021. The exhibition runs July 5-25, 2021. Artists are responsible for all shipping costs and insurance both to and from the gallery and must provide a prepaid return shipping label from UPS or FedEx. Unsold artwork will be shipped back July 28-31, 2021. The gallery will not assume liability for loss or damage to artwork. For sales, artists receive 70% of the final sale price and the gallery receives 30%. "Art of Distinction" awards ranging from $150 to $700 will be granted at the exhibition.
