Summer Dreaming - Visual Art Exhibition

Art Works Downtown invites San Francisco Bay Area artists to submit work for the Summer Dreaming exhibition. The theme calls for vibrant creations capturing the essence of sun-soaked days, lazy afternoons, and the vibrant colors that define summer. Artists are encouraged to express their vision and interpretation through any medium that transports the viewer to a whimsical realm of heat and light-hearted adventure.

Eligibility is limited to artists living within 100 miles of San Rafael, California. The exhibition is open to most subject matter including abstraction and all visual arts media including sculpture. Original artwork only—no giclées or reproductions. Video artists must include equipment dimensions and supply all equipment for the exhibition; projections are prohibited. Artwork must not exceed 72 inches including frame, stand, and all materials. Images of explicit sexual content or violence will not be considered. Submissions must not have previously exhibited in the AWD 1337 Gallery. The entry fee is $40 for up to 3 entries, with discounts available for Art Works Downtown members.

Submissions are made through CallForEntry.org and must be received by May 2, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Notification of acceptance will be sent by email on May 10. Accepted work must be hand-delivered between May 30–June 1, 12–6pm. The exhibition runs June 2–July 22, 2024, with public visiting hours Wednesday–Saturday, 12–6pm. Opening reception is June 14, 5–8pm, with a second reception on July 12, 5–8pm. Unsold artwork may be picked up July 25–27, 12–6pm. Artists who do not retrieve their work will be charged a storage fee of $5.00 per day; works remaining after 30 days become property of Art Works Downtown. Art Works Downtown retains 40% of net sales; artists receive payment after the exhibition ends. The juror is Hakki Serhat Cacekli, Senior Director of Jessica Silverman Gallery.
