Sugar Rush - Juried Group Show

Sugar Rush is a juried group exhibition exploring the cultural, historical, and artistic dimensions of sugar. The exhibition will feature artworks that address the topic from multiple perspectives—celebrating sweetness, criticizing it, or simply referencing it in technique. Works may mimic the saturated, rainbow colors of candy or the thick swirls of cake frosting.

Accepted mediums include any 2D or 3D work including works on paper, prints, books, paintings, photography, sculpture, and installation. Video work will not be accepted. There is no size requirement. A maximum of three entries are allowed per artist with a $25 application fee. The fee is waived for Sacramento Area artists (Sacramento, Yolo, Placer, and El Dorado Counties) using coupon code "Sugar Free." The guest juror and co-curator is Rhonda Coleman, a nationally-recognized arts professional with over twenty years of experience in the art and design field.

Application Deadline: November 17, 2014. Notification of Results: November 25, 2014. Selected Work Drop Off: December 6, 2014. Exhibition Dates: December 13, 2014 – January 17, 2015. Opening Reception: December 13, 2014, 6pm - 9pm. Work Pick-Up: January 18, 2015. Artists determine the retail price of each piece with a 40/60 commission split (40% to gallery, 60% to artist). Artists are responsible for transportation, shipping, and insurance costs. Work will be insured while on display at En Em Art Space.
