Sugar Land Arts Fest 2025 - Murals

The Sugar Land Cultural Arts Foundation (SLCAF) is seeking four accomplished muralists with a proven track-record to participate as live mural painters for the 2025 Sugar Land Arts and Music Fest at the Smart Financial Center Plaza. This is the fourth annual Sugar Land Arts Festival and live mural painters are a staple of the event. The Sugar Land Arts & Music Fest is a two-day festival in the heart of Sugar Land, an emerging hub for the arts. More than 100 artists participate in the event, which is a prime opportunity for them to exhibit and sell their artwork across 14 different mediums.

Each selected muralist will receive a $500 stipend and an additional $150 for materials. Selected muralists must paint and be onsite for Saturday, April 26 from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm. Muralists can arrive the day before the festival (Friday, April 25, 2025, 10am – 2pm) to sketch and prepare their design onto the mural substrate. The mural theme is "The Feeling of Music" and artwork should be designed as 4 foot wide by 8 foot tall mural (vertically oriented). No nudity, heavy religious or political overtones are allowed as this is a family friendly event.

Applications require 4 images including 3 images of previously completed murals and 1 image of concept sketch or rendering. The application fee is $10 per concept with up to 5 separate concepts allowed. After the festival, all murals will be installed within the Smart Financial Centre Sugar Land for one year with accompanying signage. The mural will become property of SLCAF after the festival.
