About This Call
Remarque Print Workshop & Gallery invites printmakers and photographers from around the world to submit work for the exhibition Sublime Synergies: Interactions of Light and Ink, to be held at Remarque Print Workshop & Gallery in Albuquerque, NM from June 7–July 27, 2024.
This call seeks hand-printed photographic imagery using alternative processes, such as photogravure, photopolymer intaglio, cyanotype, gum bichromate, carbon, salt, albumen, gummoil, and other alternatives to straight digital printing. The exhibition looks for images that explore the boundaries between photography and printmaking and involve some form of hand-work. The organizers seek to select images that capture the energy of the sublime—work that merges photographic and printmaking traditions and showcases the emerging print world that increasingly discards concern for categorical process while making free use of techniques from all forms of print and image making.
Each artist should submit 3 to 5 images with a maximum paper size of 16 x 20" or 20 x 16". The entry fee is $35 USD, non-refundable. All selected works will be archivally framed and displayed in the Remarque Gallery. Artists are responsible for all shipping costs and must provide a pre-paid shipping label for return of their piece. Accepted works must arrive at Remarque no later than May 20, 2024. Remarque will retain 50% of the retail price and the artist will receive 50% of the retail price. Payment to the artist will be made within thirty days of the end of the exhibition via check or PayPal. Artists whose submissions are chosen for the exhibition grant Remarque the right to use their images for the purpose of marketing the exhibition. Jury results will be communicated via CAFE by May 2, 2024.
