Strike A Pose: Portraiture & Figurative Work

Strike A Pose: Portraiture & Figurative Work celebrates the human figure in all its forms. This exhibition invites artists to share portrait and figurative work in any media—oils, acrylics, pencil, photography, sculpture, textiles, or words—and express their feelings and ideas through the human form. Work may be serious or thoughtful, fun or frivolous, playful or powerful.

The exhibition runs February 7–March 4, 2023, with an opening event on Thursday, February 9 from 5–7pm. This call is open to artists worldwide, both amateur and professional. Work must have been produced within the last five years, and all styles and aesthetics are considered. Content should be appropriate for all viewers. Work that is copied or done under the guidance of an instructor is not eligible.

Entry fees are $25 for the first entry and $5 for each additional entry, with a maximum of 20 entries per artist. Submissions must include 1–20 images and up to 6 videos in JPEG format (minimum 1,200 pixels on longest side, maximum 5 mb). JPEGs are due by Saturday, January 28, 2023. Notification of acceptance will be sent by Tuesday, January 31. Artists are responsible for shipping costs to and from the gallery. Work must be shipped to arrive by Monday, February 6, 2023, or dropped off locally on that date. A Juror's Choice award of $250 cash will be given. The Cultural Center charges a 30% commission on sales for members and 40% for non-members. The Center's insurance does not cover damage during shipping; artists should insure their work themselves.
