Storytelling at Art Works Downtown

Art Works Downtown invites SF Bay Area artists to submit work for an exhibition exploring storytelling through visual art. The gallery seeks art that invites viewers to construct stories about what they see, using approaches ranging from description to implication, from frozen moments to juxtapositions of ambiguity.

Eligibility: SF Bay Area artists only (must live within 100 miles of San Rafael, California). Accepted media include painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, photography, collage, and assemblage. No video media. Original artwork only; no giclees or reproductions, though editions are acceptable. Submissions must not have previously exhibited at the AWD 1337 Gallery. Entry fee is $40 for a maximum of 3 entries. Submissions are made through Call For Entries.org only; hardcopy, email, and disk submissions are not accepted.

Juror: Kay Bradner, nationally exhibiting artist and retired art professor. Exhibition dates: June 8 - July 13, 2018. Accepted work must be hand-delivered to Art Works Downtown, 1337 Fourth Street, San Rafael between 1pm-4pm on June 2. Art Works Downtown accepts a 40% donation upon sale. Unsold work may be picked up July 28, 10am-2pm. Artists who do not retrieve their work will be charged $1.00 per day storage fee; works remaining after 30 days become property of Art Works Downtown.
