About This Call
StoriesToArt is an online gallery launching in 2017 that empowers art lovers to select exclusive pieces of art or commission art, music, or poetry inspired by their own or a loved one's stories and memories. Artists on the site keep 60% of their sales, and 5% of StoriesToArt's profits go to arts education through StoriesToArt Gives Back.
This competition invites artists from every field, including recent art school graduates, to submit work inspired by provided stories or personal stories and memories. Participants must submit at least 3 entries and up to 6 pieces of original art. Work can be in any media including paintings, sculpture, illustration, comics, animation, industrial design, jewelry, textiles, mixed media, photography, poetry, and songs. At least one entry must be inspired by one of the provided stories (numbered 1-3). Additional entries must include an accompanying story of up to 150 words that inspired the work. Entry fee is $15. Images must be 1920 pixels on the longest side. Poetry is limited to 2 pages; songs to 3.5 minutes. All work must be dated and signed, and at least 3 pieces must be available for sale if invited to exhibit.
Round One judges will select up to 400 artists to invite to exhibit on StoriesToArt.com between July 31, 2016 and February 28, 2017. Round Two judges will select 12 winners: 1st place artwork and profile featured on the StoriesToArt homepage; 2nd and 3rd place featured on StoriesToArt; 4th-12th place honorable mentions featured on the contest winners' page. All selected artists will be invited to exhibit on StoriesToArt. Eligibility is open to U.S. citizens and legal residents, 18 or older. By submitting, artists grant StoriesToArt a worldwide, non-exclusive perpetual license to reproduce images or recordings of their work on the website and other media with credit and links.
