StoriesToArt Call for Artists, Poets and Songwriters

StoriesToArt invites artists, poets, and songwriters to submit work inspired by vivid memories, shared moments, or personal stories. This competition welcomes talent from students, early-career artists, amateurs, and established artists from the United States in any media, including paintings, sculpture, illustration, comics, animation, industrial designs, jewelry, textiles, mixed media, photography, poetry, and songs.

Each participant must submit at least 3 entries. At least one entry must be inspired by stories provided by StoriesToArt (listed in the competition materials). Additional entries must include an original story of up to 200 words that inspired the work. You may submit up to 6 pieces total, including previously awarded or sold work, provided you retain legal rights to display it. All work must be dated and signed. Entry fee is $15. Submissions are uploaded through the StoriesToArt website; physical submissions are not required. Payment can be made by credit card or check sent to StoriesToArt, P.O. Box 343, Earlysville, VA 22936.

Judging occurs in two rounds. Round One: A panel of professional artists, poets, and songwriters will select up to 400 artists to exhibit on StoriesToArt.com, with invitations sent between July 16-31, 2016. Round Two: Judges will select 12 finalists and award prizes: 1st Place $5,000, 2nd Place $3,000, 3rd Place $1,000, and 4th-12th Place Honorable Mentions $500 each. Winners' work and profiles will be featured on StoriesToArt.com. Visual art is judged on technical skill, creativity, design fundamentals, and story conversion. Poetry is judged on structure, word/language, and story conversion. Songs are judged on story adaptation, creativity, musicality, pitch and timing, and recording quality. Entrants must be U.S. citizens or legal residents, 18 or older. By submitting, you grant StoriesToArt a worldwide, non-exclusive perpetual license to reproduce your work on their website and other media with credit and links to you.
