STITCH: Contemporary Textile Art from Kentucky and Surrounding States

STITCH is a regional contemporary art textile exhibition featuring works of all textile and fiber media created by artists living in Kentucky, Ohio, Missouri, Indiana, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Mississippi, Georgia, and Illinois. Work for consideration must be created, in sum or part, of textile/fiber techniques including but not limited to two and three dimensional artwork consisting of stitching, knitting, weaving, crochet, quilting, felting, surface design on fabric, stitched paper, and art to wear. All artists age 18 and older who reside in the eligible states are eligible to enter. All textile and fiber media and styles will be considered. No reproductions will be accepted. All works must have been completed from January 2014 to present and have not previously shown in the Claypool-Young Art Gallery.

The entry fee is $20 for up to three artworks. Submissions must include up to 3 entries represented by one full image and up to two detail images with associated artwork information, and an artist statement up to 1000 words. The submission deadline is March 17, 2017. Final notification emails will be sent on or before April 21, 2017. Selected works will be exhibited from June 5 – August 30, 2017. The closing reception will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., with a lecture by juror Nick DeFord to follow. Best in Show ($300) and Merit Awards ($100) will be conferred by exhibition juror Nick DeFord.

Artwork delivery deadline is May 19, 2017. The artist is responsible for all costs related to shipping and insurance. 2D and 3D work must be able to fit through a standard door opening and not exceed 75 pounds. 3D work must be well constructed and self supporting. Exhibited works can be noted as "For Sale," "Not for Sale," or "Price on Request." The gallery's 20% commission will be added to the work's value should the piece be offered as "For Sale" or "Price on Request."
