About This Call
L7 Gallery invites contemporary artists to submit work that investigates and represents the concept of stillness. Stillness can be serene reflection, joyous possibility, or anxious alertness, evoked through muted colors or rich colors alike. Consider what work you have or create something new depicting stillness, whether figurative, landscape, or abstract.
The gallery is accepting painting, drawing, printmaking, mixed media, collage, fabric art, and sculpture. All artwork must be original, and artists must be 18 years or older. Photography, computer-generated, AI, or AI-assisted submissions will not be accepted. Submit 1 to 3 images with a $30 entry fee. No artist statement is required for submission, but selected artists are asked to submit a short statement about their work once accepted.
One selected artist will receive a $500 award based on originality of expression and craftsmanship. The juror is Maria Porges, a writer and artist whose reviews and articles have appeared in Artforum, Art in America, Sculpture, the New York Times Book Review, and other publications. She is currently a full professor at California College of the Arts. The award winner will be announced March 10, 2026. Exhibition dates are March 10 - April 10, 2026.
