About This Call
Sterling is a Colorado certified Creative District known as the City of Living Trees because of its hand-carved tree sculptures. This year, the community is seeking sculptures for a public art program, with preference for at least one of two sculptures to touch on Colorado history or a patriotic theme for the 150/250 Colorado/USA anniversary celebration. This is the second year of the Sculpture on Loan community program.
Each artist may submit up to 3 different sculptures. Each piece must be at least 4 feet tall and have a metal plate adhered to its base that can fit on an 8' x 4' plinth. The metal plate will be welded to the metal plate on the plinth. Do not submit sculptures that will not fit on the plinths, art installations, or sculptures committed to another program. Installation will be on Saturday, September 6, 2025, and the artist or artist representative must be present to install the sculpture. No exceptions will be made.
Submit 2 different images for each sculpture (do not send more than 2 pictures per sculpture; entries with only one picture are considered incomplete). Work samples: minimum 1, maximum 6 images. Eligibility is open to artists nationwide. Budget is $1,000 per piece.
