About This Call
This annual juried exhibition from the School of Botanical Art & Illustration highlights species from Plant Select®, a leading nonprofit educator, cultivator, and distributor of plants suited to the high plains and intermountain regions. The exhibition runs November 22, 2015 – February 14, 2016 at Gates Garden Court Gallery, Denver Botanic Gardens, with a reception on Sunday, November 22, 2015, 2 – 3 p.m.
Eligibility is limited to artists who have participated in courses at Denver Botanic Gardens' School of Botanical Art and Illustration between June 2013 and August 2015. Artworks of all levels and in any media taught in the school are welcome. Subject matter must focus on plants that are part of the Plant Select® program, suited to the high plains and intermountain regions. All media taught in the school are accepted, including hand bound books, sketchbooks, pop-ups, and paper cuts. All artwork must be original; no photography, digitally generated work, giclée prints, or offset lithographs will be accepted.
Each artist may submit two two-dimensional entries plus one three-dimensional entry. Digital submissions only via CallforEntry.org. Images must be JPG files with a minimum of 1920 pixels on the longest side and 5.0 MB maximum, named with the artist's last name and artwork title (e.g., Smith_Planta communis). Submissions are accepted September 9 – October 9, 2015, with a deadline of 11:59pm Mountain Daylight Time on October 9, 2015. Acceptances and regrets will be sent via email by October 17, 2015. Upon acceptance, artists will submit matted artwork only (no frame) in 4- or 8-ply white rag mats fitting a 16" x 20" frame interior. Artwork is insured by Denver Botanic Gardens while on site. A 30% commission will be retained on any sold works. Images submitted may be used in catalogs or publicity in print or electronic form without further permission.
