Stems Plein Air Juried Show

Stems Plein Air Paint is an annual plein air competition in the Kansas City area, now accepting submissions for a National Juried Show. This is a unique opportunity for outdoor painters to safely compete for multiple cash prizes, including a $2,500 Best of Show Prize, and sell works both online and in a fine art gallery exhibition.

Artists may submit 1 to 3 images of plein air paintings created between May 11th and June 27th, 2020. There are no restrictions on painting locales. The entry fee is $25. All submissions must be original plein air paintings, completely dry, framed, wired securely, and ready to hang. Unframed paintings should not exceed 48 inches at their longest dimension. All selected paintings will be featured for sale in an exclusive gallery exhibition at The Rice Gallery of Fine Art in Overland Park, KS, opening July 31st, 2020. Selected works will also be included in an online digital art opening via Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and www.thericegallery.com. Prize winners will be announced on July 31st, 2020 and featured in a one-night-only sales tent at the Stems: A Garden Soiree event on August 8th, 2020.

Selected works must be received by The Rice Gallery of Fine Art by July 27th, 2020. Artists are responsible for all shipping expenses and shipping insurance. Paintings requiring freight services other than standard shipping are ineligible. All shipments must be sent signature required. Local drop-off and pickup options are available by appointment. The jury will review all submissions between June 29th and July 8th, 2020, with selections announced by July 8th, 2020.
