Stems Plein Air 2021 Juried Show

Stems Plein Air Paint, an annual plein air competition in the Kansas City area, is offering a national juried show welcoming plein air artists nationwide. This juried show provides an opportunity for the national plein air community to compete and win cash prizes, including a $2,500 Best of Show award. Selected works will be promoted and sold in a public gallery exhibition at The Rice Gallery of Fine Art.

Artists should submit 1 to 3 images of their best 2021 plein air paintings. There is no painting event to attend and no restrictions on painting locales. The application deadline is May 28th, 2021, with a $30 non-refundable entry fee. All submissions must be original plein air paintings painted in 2021. Paintings must be completely dry, framed, wired securely, and ready to hang. The unframed size should not exceed 48 inches at its longest dimension. Prints, reproductions, and photography are not eligible.

Juried selections will be announced by June 7th, 2021. Selected works must be received by The Rice Gallery of Fine Art by June 21st, 2021. The exhibition opens to the public on July 2nd, 2021 at The Rice Gallery of Fine Art in Overland Park, KS. All selected paintings are eligible for multiple cash prizes. Selected works will be included in The Rice Gallery's online store and promoted via Facebook and Instagram. The Rice Gallery will collect a 40% commission on any paintings sold during the exhibition. Artists are responsible for all shipping expenses and shipping insurance. Local drop-off and pickup options are available by appointment.
