Stations of the Cross, St. Thomas More Catholic Student Parish

St. Thomas More Catholic Student Parish seeks an artist to create a series of fourteen Stations of the Cross images for installation in the parish worship space. The artwork will be in 2D and/or 3D format and should reflect the parish's social-justice orientation, diversity, relationship with its sister parish in El Salvador (Parroquia Maria Madre de Los Pobres), and the existing artistic style of the worship space.

The fourteen stations depict Jesus Christ on the day of his crucifixion, from his condemnation to death through his entombment. All works should be of similar size and style for consistency. The project aims to enhance the spiritual lives of the faithful and create a lasting legacy for the parish community.

Eligibility: Artists must be 18 years or older, residents of Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, or Illinois, carry separate liability insurance, and be able to complete all fourteen stations within the provided timeline. A Roman Catholic background is helpful but not required. Entry fee is $35.00. Applicants must submit a resume, statement of interest, and at least three .jpg images of previous relevant artwork (optional: up to one .mp4 video). The selection process includes multiple stages with parish community involvement and diocesan oversight. Finalists selected for Stage Three will each receive $200 for developing one completed sample station. The selected artist will complete all fourteen pieces by April 6, 2027, with installation by April 20, 2027.
