State of Unions

WCA-CO announces its 2016 national juried show with the theme State of Unions to be exhibited from May 26 to June 12 at the Core Annex, 900 Santa Fe Drive, Denver CO 80204. The theme explores union, separation, harmony, and broken promises, which may address relationships of people, nations, objects, politics, or science. Artists may submit work in any media including paint, collage, photography, clay, sculpture, print, and drawing. Video and performance art will not be accepted.

The juror is Hilary DePolo, who has been involved in the visual arts in Denver for more than 35 years. She was owner and director of AlphaGallery and has been an independent art consultant for more than 20 years. She hosts a monthly radio program on the gallery scene in Denver on KUVO-Jazz 89 and is a published poet. In jurying this exhibition, she will be looking for work that says a lot in a small space with an intense or unique exploration of the theme. Competent use of media, strong compositional sense, and refined use of color will influence her decision. Professionalism of presentation will be considered in the final selection of award winners.

Size restrictions: wall art limited to 24 inches horizontal; pedestal art limited to a square foot footprint with a maximum weight of 50 pounds. Entry fee is $35.00. Submit 1-3 images. Once accepted, shipped work must arrive by May 20, 2016, or be hand-delivered to Core Annex on May 23, 2016.
