State of the Arts 2025

State of the Arts 2025 is the Prairie Village Arts Council's 19th annual juried competition for 2D and 3D artworks (excluding photography). The exhibition runs September and October, with the show opening September 15th for People's Choice Voting.

Eligibility is open to artists 18 years or older within approximately a 2-hour drive of the gallery. Artwork must be original, not more than 2 years old, not created in a class or under supervision of another artist, and not copied from published or others' photos without written permission. 2D and 3D artwork of any media except photography is acceptable. All 2D artwork selected for display must be D-ringed, wired, and ready for hanging (no clip frames, flat brackets, saw tooth hangers, or string hangers). 2D framed or unframed work should not exceed 25 square feet total. All 3D work cannot exceed 18 inches in any dimension. Artists must be able to attend the artist reception and awards ceremony if selected.

Three entries are allowed per artist with a $40 entry fee for 1 to 3 entries (non-refundable). No more than one piece per artist will be selected for the show. All work must be for sale with a 10% sales commission to the Prairie Village Arts Council. Prices listed on the entry form are binding and cannot be changed after submission. Submissions open June 20, 2025 and close July 20, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Finalists will be announced August 17, 2025. Installation is September 13, 2025. Awards include: $1,000 Best in Show, $750 Merit Awards (two), $250 People's Choice Award, and $100 Honorable Mention Awards (up to three). The juror is Kwanza Humphrey, an award-winning artist known for portraiture and mixed media work. Artwork must be picked up November 8, 2025 between 8:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. only; unclaimed artwork will incur a $10 per day storage fee.
