State of the Arts 2024

State of the Arts 2024 is the Prairie Village Arts Council's 18th annual juried competition for 2D and 3D artworks (excluding photography). The exhibition runs September and October, with the show opening September 9th for People's Choice Voting.

Eligibility is open to artists 18 years of age or older within approximately a 2-hour drive of the gallery. Artwork must be original, not more than 2 years old, not created in a class or under supervision of another artist, and not copied from published or others' photos without written permission. 2D and 3D artwork of any media except photography is acceptable. All 2D artwork selected for display must be D-ringed, wired, and ready for hanging (no clip frames, flat brackets, saw tooth hangers, or string hangers). 2D framed or unframed work should not exceed 25 square feet total. All 3D work cannot exceed 18 inches in any one dimension. Artists must be able to attend the artist reception and awards ceremony if selected.

Three entries are allowed per artist with a $35 entry fee for 1 to 3 entries (non-refundable). No more than one piece per artist will be selected for the show. All work must be for sale with a 10% sales commission to the Prairie Village Arts Council. Prices listed on the entry form are binding and cannot be changed after submission. Submissions open June 21, 2024 and close July 21, 2024. Jury begins August 11, 2024 with finalist announcements on August 18, 2024. Awards include: $1,000 Best in Show, $750 Merit Awards (two), $500 People's Choice Award, and $100 Honorable Mention Awards (five). The juror is Sandra Schaffer, a signature member of the National Watercolor Society and experienced juror for multiple national exhibitions.
