State of the Arts 2021

State of The Arts 2021 is the R.G. Endres Gallery's 15th annual juried competition held every October. The exhibition runs during October and November. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, winning entries will be displayed in the R.G. Endres Gallery, with a virtual exhibition of the entire show available online. The show opens October 4th for People's Choice Voting.

Three entries are allowed per artist with a $35 entry fee for 1 to 3 entries. Fees are non-refundable. No more than one piece of art per artist will be selected by the juror for the show. All work must be original, not more than 2 years old, not done in a class or under supervision of another artist, and not copied from published photos or photos taken by others without written permission. 2D and 3D artwork of any media except photography is acceptable. All 2D artwork selected for display must be D-ringed, wired, and ready for hanging; framed or unframed size should not exceed 25 square feet total. All 3D work cannot exceed 48 inches in any one dimension. All work must be for sale, and prices listed on the entry form are binding and cannot be changed after submission. The gallery sales commission is 40%.

Awards include: $1,000 for Best in Show, $750 Merit Awards (two presented), $500 People's Choice Award, and $100 Honorable Mention Awards (five presented). The juror is Ada Koch, an artist, organizer, and teacher well-known in the Kansas City arts community. Finalists will be notified September 27th, and award announcements will be made October 15th. Artwork pickup is December 4th, 2021 between 9 AM and noon. Artwork not picked up will be charged a $10 per day storage fee, and any artwork unclaimed 30 days after exhibition closing becomes property of the City of Prairie Village.
