About This Call
State of The Arts 2020 is the R.G. Endres Gallery's 14th annual juried competition held in October. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, this year's event will be held virtually and posted on Facebook and the Art Council's website at http://artspv.org/sota2020. Awards will be announced on social media and the website.
Awards include: $1,000 for Best in Show, $750 Merit Awards (two presented), $500 People's Choice award, and $100 Honorable Mention Awards (five presented). The competition is open to artists 18 years or older. Acceptable work includes 2D and 3D artwork of any media except photography. Artwork must be original, not more than 2 years old, not created in a class or under supervision of another artist, and not copied from published photos or photos taken by others without written permission. Copyright infringement will result in disqualification.
Three entries are allowed per artist with a $35 entry fee for 1 to 3 entries (non-refundable). No more than one piece per artist will be selected for the show. All work must be for sale with prices listed on the entry form that cannot be changed after submission. The gallery's sales commission is 40%, and artists are responsible for shipping sold pieces to buyers. Submissions open September 24, 2020 and close October 20, 2020. The juror is Dr. Lori Phillips, a painter and mixed media artist based in Honolulu, Hawaii, with 40 years of teaching experience and expertise in arts education.
